Why does Send & Receive lights flash on my modem when it is not connected to the RJ-45 line on computer?

If I have the cable line inserted in modem and electrical power line connected my modem shows Send and Receiving at different time frames. The lights flash irregularly showing data transmission without direct computer connection.

Thank you in advance for your assitance. The cable company doesn't know why.Why does Send %26amp; Receive lights flash on my modem when it is not connected to the RJ-45 line on computer?
Most networks will send out ';Keepalives';, which are used to keep synch on the network. There may also be monitoring tools on the network that pull info from your modem. A cable modem may be updating a tool that tracks RX level, TX level, %26amp; SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). In any case, it's normal. Why does Send %26amp; Receive lights flash on my modem when it is not connected to the RJ-45 line on computer?
Do you have a wireless router attached to it?
